The Mother Church of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação of Vila Real de Santo António was built in the 18th century.

This church stands out for its lateral chapels, its altarpieces in “rocaille” style, its huge windowed door and its colourful stained glass windows in the main chapel and baptistery. The church also exhibits an interesting collection of statues from the 18th century, among which stands out the Nossa Senhora da Encarnação statue, work of the sculptor Machado de Castro.
