This Municipal Archaeological Museum, installed in the old Paços do Concelho (city council), is located in Praça da República Square, in the old quarter of Albufeira.

Besides its permanent archaeological exhibition, it also features a temporal showroom and guided-tours in the historic city centre.

The museum is formed by four historic nucleus separated into four different periods: prehistory, Roman, Visigothic-Islamic, and Modern Age.
