Praia da Marinha beach is one of the most beautiful and emblematic beaches in all the Portuguese coast, and boasts the status of “Golden Beach” since 1998 due to its excellent nature-friendly standards.

It’s surrounded by eroded cliffs with warm hues, generating a great variety of rocky formations, with arches, grottos, caves, and natural wells.

Marine diversity is also worth noting in the rocky surroundings, since they house sea anemones, starfish, as well as huge banks of prawn, sargus, shortfin mako sharks, Mediterranean rainbow wrasses, and sand-smelts. Besides, the field of seaweed to the west is home to many octopuses and cuttlefish.
