The Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Esperança Shrine stands near the cemetery of Faro, between Rua Aboim Ascenção and Rua do Alportel.
Built in the 15th century to house the remains of its founder, João Amado, it underwent several modifications in the 18th century after being damaged in the earthquakes of 1722 and 1755.
