The Minho is famous for large outdoor markets, but the biggest, most ancient and famous is definitely the fair of Barcelos.

The Barcelos Market is held every Thursday at this historic city located on the banks river Cávado.

Most of the tourists seek this market for Barcelos tableware, a figure of ceramic decorated in yellow, and artisanal local pottery figurines, while the inhabitants of the region more often visit the market to buy fresh products, embroidered tablecloths, hand-crafted baskets and hand carved yoke.
