Furninha Grotto, Peniche, Portugal
Discover this curious grotto near the Carvoeiro Cape in Peniche.
Furninha Grotto © Cida GarciaThe Furninha Grotto is a natural cavity where many archaeologic remainings where found which prove the existence of people on this place during the pre-historic period.
This grotto is located near the sea and its thought to have been used as a shelter and necropole. Here many Neanderthal Man remains were found as well as fauna from the quaternary period, hunting tools, and also pottery objects as suspended pots.
The remains found here might be observed at the Municipal Museum of Peniche at the Fort of Peniche.
