It is not clear when was it built but the first reference about this Igreja de Santiago Church of Montemor-o-Novo dates back to 1302.
This monumental church has 14th-century mural paintings and was the centre of the parish, opened until 1863.
Nowadays works as Interpretative Centre of Montemor-o-Novo Castle, being possible to do guided tours on it.
