The town of Pombal, dominated by Pombal Castle, is located 25 kilometres to the northeast of Leiria, Portugal.

This village is located on the foot of a Templar castle. The Marquis of Pombal had here a house and spent here his last days.

 

In here also stand out the elegant Igreja da Nossa Senhora do Cadal Church and the Marquis of Pombal Municipal Museum.

This village is a perfect start point to visit the Serra de Sicó Mountains, with its typical parishes and grottoes. Today they still do traditional cheeses and cakes, but traditional craftworks are also a must when making carpets, baskets, pottery...

Towards the littoral, passing through the Mata Nacional do Urso you’ll find quiet beaches to practise several water sports.
