As well as the arrival of great weather at the start of Summer, June in Portugal has many amazing events that you can’t miss out on. To kick off the month, the Festa do Fado (Fado Music Festival) takes place in the Castelo de São Jorge, Lisbon, a fantastic opportunity to hear fado music in an unbeatable setting. What’s more, there is the Festa do Corpo de Deus (Corpus Christi Festival) in Monção, during which worship and the Medieval atmosphere of its market come together, just before the Vaca das Cordas & Corpus Christi (Bull Running) at Ponte de Lima, one of the most ancient celebrations in Portugal. In Amarante, June starts of strong with the Festas de Junho (June Festivals), whose main attractions of night drumming, artisanal items, and fireworks stand out. In the middle of the month, from the June 12th to 13th, the Festas de Santo António (Saint Anthony Feast Day) take place in Lisbon, where you’ll be able to come face to face with the country’s most authentic features. To finish off the month, you can’t miss out on attending the Festas de São João (Saint John Feast Day) celebrated in Porto, Braga and Vila do Conde; the Feira Nacional da Agricultura (National Agriculture Market) in Santarém; or the Festas Populares de Évora (Évora City Festivals).

If you want to enjoy the magnificent Portuguese beaches and avoid the Summer crods, you’ll have to go to Algarve in June, as it has the perfect and most calm atmosphere for spending some well-deserved rest days at an affordable price. However, if you’re looking for some fun in its purest form, too, don’t forget to set aside a few days to stay in the region to visit one of its water parks, such as the renowned Slide and Splash Park or Aquashow, although you can also find this type of adventure in the Amarante Water Park or the Nazaré Norpark. Another ideal place for enjoying Portugal’s coast in Peniche, where you just have to take a trip through the Berlengas archipelago, this being the only time you can get close to it.

Overall, June, for its vibrant activities and wide range of options for people of all tastes, is the perfect time to have an unforgettable vacation in Portugal.

Don’t hesitate to let us know everything you want during your stay and we’ll take care of having your trip meet your expectations.
