The Fortaleza de Valença do Minho (Valença do Minho Fortress)boasts over 800 years history.

Its origins are related to the construction of a fortress started at the beginning of the 13th century, composed of some walls and a medieval castle.

During the Restoration War (17th Century), the existing fortification became a stronghold in the Vauban style, gaining in size and appearance.

It is currently surrounded by 5 kilometers of walls, which invite to discover authentic gems of the world military architecture.
