The beautiful Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Purificação Mother Church is located in the Largo Padre José María Amaral Square, beside the Santa María Museum, in the city of Santo Espírito in Santa María Island, Azores.

Built in 1779, this church has a tripartite Baroque facade, decorated with eses, being one of the most decorated temples in the archipelago and considered by many the most beautiful one in the Azores.
